3,000 IPOH CITIZENS JOIN IPOH LOW CARBON DAY IN MAY 2025

25 MAY 2025 – 3,000 Ipoh residents participated in the Ipoh Low Carbon Day (ILCD) Programme 79th Series this morning. The event, themed ‘World No Tobacco Day’, aimed to encourage the community to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.

The programme was enlivened with the presence of 2,000 participants from various segments of society, including government staff, students from institutions, families, NGOs and local communities, who took part in the 5-kilometer charity run in the Super Hero Fun Run @ Ipoh Low Carbon Day, organised by the Ipoh City Council in collaboration with the KAMI ENDAH (PEkA) Children's Cancer Welfare Association, Hospital Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh. The charity run was held in conjunction with the World Childhood Cancer Awareness Campaign.

The main objective of this run was to create awareness and enhance public knowledge about childhood cancer, as well as raising funds to help underprivileged families of patients undergoing cancer treatment. Besides, the event also aimed to foster relationships between patients and healthcare staff, and also the general community. Additionally, PEkA also set up a booth to provide advisory services in the form of an exhibition with information on childhood cancer, warning signs and symptoms of cancer in children, myths and facts about childhood cancer. The charity run event also offered several lucky draw prizes as a token of appreciation to the participants.

Among the booth participants this month was the Proton e-MAS booth showcasing the EV-Cars. Proton is currently launching its latest model, the e-MAS7 electric car. A total of 5 Proton e-MAS EV-Cars were displayed during the ILCD programme.

The run programme launch was officiated by MBI Councillor cum Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Subcommittee Chairman Clr. Dato' Ahmad Hariri Kamarudin, alongside Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital Director Dr. Saiful Azlan Sharif.

May the organisation of this programme help MBI realise its aspiration of making Ipoh a Smart and Prosperous City.
