ENGAGEMENT SESSION BETWEEN THE CHIEF SECRETARY TO THE GOVERNMENT AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES THROUGHOUT MALAYSIA
PUTRAJAYA, 10 JULY 2026 – The Engagement Session on Strengthening the Standardisation of Development Approval Processes and Procedures at Local Authorities (PBTs) with the Chief Secretary to the Government was held today, bringing together representatives from local authorities throughout Malaysia.
The session, organised by the Office of the Chief Secretary to the Government, served as an important platform to discuss measures for the improvements and standardisation of development approval processes and procedures at the PBT level, ensuring they are implemented more efficiently, transparently, uniformly and effectively.
The discussions also focused on efforts to streamline service delivery procedures, reduce bureaucracy and expediting decision-making processes without compromising legal compliance, safety and public interest.
This more structured and standardised approach is expected to enhance the efficiency level of local authority administration, create a more conducive development environment and strengthen the confidence of the public, developers and investors in the government's service delivery system.
Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah attended the session together with the leadership team and representatives from other local authorities nationwide.
MBI's participation in the session reflects the local authority’s ongoing commitment to strengthening governance, improving the efficiency of development approval processes, and delivering services that are fast, customer-friendly and with integrity.
MBI welcomes this standardisation effort and will continue to cooperate to ensure that every improvement initiative is translated into more responsive service delivery, thereby supporting the sustainable, well-planned and prosperous development of Ipoh City.
