LOWER CITY VEHICLE FREE ZONE BENCHMARK VISIT, MELAKA
10 January 2025 - A total of 35 members of the Ipoh City Council (MBI) delegation, which is the technical secretariat of Ipoh Low Carbon Day, held a benchmark visit to the Vehicle Free Zone, Bandar Hilir, Melaka.
This delegation was led by Mrs. Hajjah Saidatul Akma binti Jamaludin, Senior Director of Finance, together with Mr. Zulkefli bin Osman, Chief Assistant Director of Urban Planning.
The visit aims to examine best practices in the implementation of the vehicle-free zone initiative, which is part of a strategic effort towards sustainable development and support for the low-carbon agenda in Ipoh.
During the visit session, the delegation was briefed by Encik Mohamad Zulikhram bin Zulibrahim, Assistant Director of Town Planning, Historic Melaka City Council (MBMB). The briefing covers aspects of planning, implementation, and the effectiveness of vehicle-free zones in improving the quality of life of residents and generating the city's tourism economy.
The visit is expected to provide valuable insights to MBI in formulating strategies and innovative initiatives for the development of an environmentally friendly and resilient city in the future.
