MAYOR OF IPOH RECEIVES COURTESY VISIT FROM PERAK ELECTION COMMISSION

IPOH, 5 OCTOBER 2026 – Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah today received a courtesy visit from Perak Election Commission Director Mohd Nazri Ismail.  

The visit was held ahead of the briefing for State Returning Officers, scheduled to take place from 2 to 3 November in Ipoh.

The meeting also led to discussions on preparations at the Returning Officer level in preparation for the 16th General Election (GE16), particularly involving the P.064 Ipoh Timur parliamentary constituency.  

Furthermore, it served as a platform for the Election Commission (EC) and the Ipoh City Council to coordinate related matters and requirements that need to be given focus to ensure that election affairs in the area can be carried out in accordance with the established procedures.

This meeting reflected the cooperation between the EC and the local authority in making early preparations for GE16, besides ensuring that management and coordination at the constituency level receive due attention.
