OPERATION TO DEMOLISH UNAPPROVED STRUCTURES PHASE 1/2026

IPOH, 7 APRIL 2026 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) carried out the Operation to Demolish Unapproved Structures Phase 1/2026 today, involving four (4) locations where boom gates or barriers had been erected on road reserves to control access into residential areas within the MBI administrative jurisdiction. 

We wish to inform that the implementation of this operation was in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) set, i.e., via the issuance of a Demolition Notice under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133). This notice provides a compliance period of thirty (30) days to the parties involved. However, an extension of the compliance period may be considered by MBI based on specific cases. 

The operation involved about 80 personnel with the cooperation of various agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). 

The demolition operation started at 9.00 am and was completed at around 11.00 am.
