OVER 10,000 FOOTBALL FANS THRONG DATARAN BANDARAYA IPOH TO WITNESS SPAIN LIFT THE FIFA WORLD CUP 2026 TROPHY

IPOH, 20 JULY 2026 – Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh echoed with the cheers of more than 10,000 football fans who gathered from early morning to watch the big-screen screening of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final between Spain and Argentina.

The dramatic and thrilling match saw Spain defeat Argentina 1–0 to be crowned champions of the world's most prestigious football tournament.

From early morning, the Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh area was filled with a sea of supporters who came with family members and friends to support their favourite teams.

Thunderous cheers, applause and suspense-filled reactions throughout the match created an atmosphere as though the spectators were in a real stadium.

Some visitors even brought mats and chairs to enjoy the match in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere filled with the spirit of sportsmanship and togetherness.

The programme was graced by the presence of Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Also present were Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah and Clr. Muhammad Hamzah Md. Hamdan, City Councillor cum Programme Coordinator.

Also in attendance were City Councillors, heads of state and federal departments, City Secretary, MBI department heads, sponsors, strategic partners, Perak football legends, media partners and MBI staff.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Menteri Besar presented certificates of appreciation to the sponsors and prizes to five lucky visitors via a lucky draw held during halftime.

In addition to watching the final match, the Menteri Besar also spent time visiting the exhibition booths and participated in a Meet & Greet session with Perak football legends.

The big-screen screening organised by the Ipoh City Council successfully brought together city residents from all walks of life in an atmosphere that was harmonious, cheerful and filled with family spirit.

The extraordinary turnout of over 10,000 visitors proved that football is more than just a sport; it can be a medium for uniting the community regardless of age, race or background.

This programme also reflects the Ipoh City Council's commitment to providing high-impact community activities that not only offer entertainment and recreation, but also strengthen unity, harmony and the spirit of togetherness among the city residents.
