PERAK STATE-LEVEL MERDEKA EVE CELEBRATION 2026 LIVELY IN IPOH

IPOH, 30 AUGUST 2026 – The Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout in Meru became the focal point for the public tonight in conjunction with the Perak State-Level Merdeka Eve Celebration 2026, which took place in a lively atmosphere, full of patriotic spirit and reflecting the harmony of a multiracial society. 

The programme brought together people from various walks of life and backgrounds to jointly enliven the National Day celebration, thereby expressing the spirit of love for the country, strengthening unity and nurturing a sense of pride as Malaysians. 

The celebration was attended by Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, together with the Perak State Government leadership. 

Also present was Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah, as a sign of Ipoh City Council’s (MBI) support and commitment towards the organising of state-level programmes capable of igniting the spirit of patriotism, strengthening community harmony and boosting tourism activities in Ipoh city.

A variety of cultural and artistic performances were presented throughout the programme, including an opening performance, dabus dance, Indian dance, Chinese dance, Orang Asli cultural performance, guest artistes performance, Kurik Kundi combined dance, Commando Arts Group performance and a special “Visit Malaysia Year 2026–2027” performance. 

The diversity of these performances reflected the uniqueness and richness of the heritage of the country’s plural society, besides serving as a platform to showcase Malaysian arts, culture and identity to the community and visitors. 

The Perak Menteri Besar also delivered a speech during the celebration before officiating the promotional video “Promising Perak 2026” launch gimmick, as part of the State Government’s ongoing efforts to promote Perak as a preferred tourism destination rich in natural beauty, heritage, culture and various interesting tourism products. 

The highlight of the celebration at 11.59pm saw the Merdeka eve countdown, followed by a fireworks display, further enlivening the festive atmosphere around the Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout. 

The celebration then continued with the singing of the national anthem Negaraku and the Jalur Gemilang song, which evoked a sense of togetherness and love for the homeland among the attendees. 

The organising of the Perak State-Level Merdeka Eve Celebration 2026 not only served as a medium to ignite the spirit of patriotism and love for the country, but also reinforced the values of unity, tolerance, harmony and togetherness that form the pillars of strength for Malaysian society. 

It is hoped that such celebrations will continue to serve as a platform that unites people of diverse races and backgrounds, besides enhancing Ipoh’s image as a dynamic, inclusive, liveable and tourist-friendly city. 

The spirit of independence celebrated is hoped to continue instilling a shared sense of responsibility among city residents to uphold peace, harmony and wellbeing, thereby contributing to the development of Ipoh City, the State of Perak and the country as a whole.
