ROAD CLOSURES AND DIVERSIONS IN CONJUNCTION WITH PERAK STATE-LEVEL 69TH NATIONAL DAY PARADE CELEBRATION

IPOH, 26 AUGUST 2026 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) wishes to inform the public that several major roads around Ipoh city centre will be closed and diverted to make way for the Perak State-Level 69th National Day Parade Celebration 2026.

The celebration will take place on 31 August 2026 (Monday), starting at 6.30am, in front of the Ipoh Town Hall, Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab, Ipoh.

In this regard, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), through the Ipoh District Police Headquarters (IPD Ipoh), will implement full road closures and traffic diversions to ensure the smooth running of the parade and the safety of participants and the public throughout the programme.  

The parade route involves several major roads, including Ipoh Padang, Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah, Jalan Tun Sambanthan (Little India), Jalan Tan Sri Tajudin Ali, Bulatan Bahagia (Medan Kidd), Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab and Jalan S.P. Seenivasagam.  

For the rehearsals on 28 August 2026 (Friday), 29 August 2026 (Saturday) and on the celebration day on 31 August 2026 (Monday), several road closures and diversions will be implemented as follows:  

  1. Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab will be closed and traffic diverted to Jalan Kompleks Islam.  
  2. Jalan St. John will be diverted to Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab towards Jalan Kuala Kangsar. 
  3. Jalan S.P. Seenivasagam will be closed. 
  4. Jalan Sultan Yusof will be closed. 
  5. Jalan Dato Maharajalela will be closed. 
  6. Jalan Dato Sagor will be closed. 
  7. Jalan Tun Sambanthan will be closed from the Jalan Bandar Timah junction. 
  8. Jalan Market will be closed from the Jalan Bandar Timah junction. 
  9. Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah will be closed and traffic diverted to Jalan Bandar Timah. 
  10. Jalan Bandar Timah to Jalan Koo Chong Kong (Little India) will be closed. 
  11. Persiaran Bukit Timah will be diverted to Jalan Sultan Yusof towards Jalan Leong Boon Swee. 
  12. Jalan Bandar Timah will be diverted to Jalan Leong Boon Swee. 
  13. Jalan Leong Boon Swee will be diverted to Jalan Tun Sambanthan. 
  14. Jalan Lahat will be diverted to Jalan Tan Sri Tajudin Ali (Medan Kidd). 
  15. Jalan Abdul Razak towards Bulatan Bahagia will be closed starting from the Jalan Gurdwara/Jalan Tun Perak traffic light junction. 
  16. Jalan Sultan Idris Shah will be closed up to Kompleks Yik Foong. 

The road closures and diversions are expected to begin at approximately 6.00am until the event concludes. 

Also, from 28 to 30 August 2026, the road in front of Ipoh Town Hall, Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab, will also be closed to allow for the full rehearsal of the Main Guard of Honour Parade, starting at 6.00am until completion. 

MBI advises road users, especially Ipoh residents, to plan their journeys in advance, use alternative routes and comply with the instructions of police officers and traffic personnel throughout the period of road closures and diversions. 

The public is also advised to avoid the affected areas if they have no important business, in order to reduce traffic congestion. 

MBI seeks the cooperation and patience of all road users and apologises for any inconvenience that may arise. All measures implemented are to ensure the smooth running, safety and success of the Perak State-Level 69th National Day Celebration.
