INSPECTION OPERATION OF FOOD FACTORY / WAREHOUSE PREMISES IN IPOH CITY COUNCIL AREA
15 January 2025 – The Food Safety and Quality Unit, Environmental Health Department, Ipoh City Council has conducted an Inspection Operation of Food Factory / Warehouse Premises series 1/2025 under the Food Establishment Licensing By-Laws (Ipoh City Council) 2017, Food Act 1983, and Food Regulations 1985 around the Ipoh City Council the administrative area this morning.
The objective of this operation is to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness of food factory and warehouse premises to ensure food hygiene and safety, as well as to monitor the safety of food products sold in the market, especially during the festive season, so that manufacturers are more concerned and aware of licensing requirements compliance to ensure the safety and quality of the food produced.
The modus operandi of this operation is focused on compliance with the licensing requirements under the Food Establishment Licensing By-Laws (Ipoh City Council) 2017, which includes the inspection of Food Handler Training Certificates and Typhoid Injection.
A total of 8 food factory / warehouse premises were inspected. From the inspection, it was found that 5 premises complied with the Council's licensing conditions, 2 warning letters and 3 compound notices were issued with a total value of RM 2,250.00.
Among the offences identified during the operation were premises failing to comply with pest control, failing to submit Food Handler Training Certificates (SLPM) and Typhoid Injection Cards.
The Council hopes that the community will always be sensitive, especially to business owners (Licensees) to always be concerned about the cleanliness of the food factory / warehouse premises to ensure the hygiene and safety of the food products produced.
