BRIEFING & BALLOTING SESSION FOR MYKIOSK TAPAK NIAGA SEJAHTERA MADANI @ JUMBO JET, STATION 18 AND ASHBY FLAT
IPOH, 18 JUNE 2025 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) continues its commitment to supporting the local community’s economic development through the organisation of a Briefing and Balloting Session for MyKIOSK Tapak Niaga Sejahtera Madani for hawkers around the Jalan Jumbo Jet, Station 18 and Ashby Flat areas. The programme, held at the Main Meeting Room, Level 3, UTC Perak Building, was attended by 23 hawkers who had been vetted by the MBI Health and Environment Department.
MyKIOSK is a government initiative that provides standardised, safe and comfortable trading spaces for micro-entrepreneurs, aims at improving socio-economic status and providing a more organised and strategic trading location for small-scale hawkers.
This session was chaired by City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak, and attended by Council Members Clr. Wong Kar Keat and Clr. Azmy Mohamed Nazir.
The hawkers were given a detailed briefing on the Rental Terms by Facility, Hygiene and Food Safety Management Principal Assistant Director Kasturi A/P Murugiah, as well as Collection of Used Cooking Oil by Environmental Health Department Superintendent Noraini Abu Bakar, Waste Handling Terms by Assistant Environmental Health Officer (Solid Waste) Zulfadzli Zakaria, and Licensing Conditions by Licensing Assistant Director Ahmad Basir Nor Azli.
After the briefing and Q&A session, the hawkers underwent a site balloting process and were issued Rental Offer Letters. They were given until 30 June 2025 to respond to the offer.
Through the implementation of the MyKIOSK programme, MBI hopes that more attractive trading locations can be established that not only support local economic growth but also have the potential to become new attractions for tourists to the City of Ipoh.
