COURTESY VISIT BY COHERENT CORP DELEGATION ON PERAK MENTERI BESAR

IPOH, 17 APRIL 2026 – Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad received a courtesy visit from a Coherent Corp delegation at the Menteri Besar’s Office today. 

The delegation was led by Coherent Corp Chief Legal & Global Affairs Officer Rob Beard. Also present at the meeting was Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah. 

Coherent Corp is a global technology company that develops solutions based on laser, optics and photonics for the semiconductor, communications and high-tech data centre industries. 

During the meeting, both parties discussed the potential expansion of Coherent’s operations in Perak. The company also expressed its intention to make Perak a transceiver manufacturing hub to support the growth of the artificial intelligence (AI) data centre industry. 

The Perak State Government expressed its readiness to establish strategic cooperation and welcomed any form of potential investment from Coherent Corp. This initiative is believed to be able to open up more highly skilled job opportunities for the people, in line with the state’s economic development focus. 

Hopefully, this meeting will be the starting point for stronger cooperative relationship between the Perak State Government and Coherent Corp, thereby strengthening Perak’s position as a high-impact investment destination.
