MAYOR OF IPOH ATTENDS 8TH WORLD CONFERENCE ON ISLAMIC THOUGHT AND CIVILISATIONN DUNIA PEMIKIRAN DAN TAMADUN ISLAM KALI KE-8

IPOH, 21 JULY 2026 – Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah today attended the 8th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilisation (WCIT 2026) at Casuarina@Meru Hotel, Ipoh.

The three-day conference, from 21 to 23 July 2026, carries the theme "Where Everyone Matters: Pride and Unity in Islam" (“Di Mana Setiap Insan Dihargai: Kebanggaan dan Kesatuan dalam Islam”).

HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah graced the conference.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, State Government leaders, academic figures, Islamic scholars and participants from within and outside the country.

His Royal Highness graciously delivered the Royal Address and officiated the Conference Opening Ceremony.

The conference, organised by Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS), serves as an important platform for discussing various issues related to Islamic thought, administration, community development and civilisation through a series of academic sessions and panel discussions.

Among the topics highlighted were social and governmental effectiveness, economic development and cooperation, good governance and political stability, public health, national integrity, security, as well as the creation of an inclusive and sustainable society.

The organising of this international-level conference further strengthens Ipoh's position as a city capable of serving as a centre for the exchange of knowledge, intellectual discourse and global civilisational dialogue, in line with the aspiration of Ipoh a Smart and Prosperous City.
