IPOH CITY COUNCIL STRENGTHENS STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR INFRASTRUCTURE, ASSETS AND OPERATIONAL NEEDS
14 AUGUST 2026 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) organised a three-day Workshop on Office Infrastructure Empowerment and Vehicle Procurement from 12 to 14 August 2026.
The workshop was officiated by Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah, and was attended by City Secretary A'zman Mohd Harun, MBI heads of departments and officers.
The organising of this workshop was one of MBI’s strategic efforts to strengthen organisational planning, specifically regarding office infrastructure needs, asset management, procurement, as well as vehicle replacement and the Council’s operational requirements in facing future challenges and service demands.
Through brainstorming sessions with the Council’s think tank group, comprising management and heads of departments and units, several key strategic aspects were identified for attention, including:
- financial management and financing methods;
- management, maintenance and replacement of assets and vehicles;
- empowerment of infrastructure and optimisation of office space; and
- development planning and operational needs of the Local Authority (PBT) for the next five years.
The outcomes of this workshop will serve as an important foundation for MBI in formulating a more structured, practical and resilient approach to strengthen financial position, improve asset management efficiency and enhance the Council’s operational and infrastructure capabilities.
The implementation of the identified proposals will be carried out in phases, based on priority and prudence, taking into account the Council’s financial capacity and current needs.
This approach is important to ensure that every plan and expenditure delivers the best value to the organisation, besides guaranteeing financial sustainability and improving the effectiveness of MBI’s service delivery to the community.
MBI is committed to continuously strengthening organisational governance and strategic planning in line with the aspiration of making Ipoh a sustainable, efficient and liveable city.
