IPOH HOSTS DINNER IN CONJUNCTION WITH ACMROCH 2026

IPOH, 1 AUGUST 2026 – The city of Ipoh once again took centre stage internationally when it was chosen as the venue for the Dinner in conjunction with the ASEAN-China Ministerial Roundtable on Construction and Housing (ACMROCH) 2026, held at the Grand Ballroom, Ipoh Convention Centre, Ipoh tonight.

The prestigious event was officiated by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming, and attended by ministers, deputy ministers and senior government officials from ASEAN Member States and the People’s Republic of China.

Also present were ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, State Housing and Local Government Committee Chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching, Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah, as well as delegations from ASEAN Member States and the People’s Republic of China.

The hosting of this Dinner is the highest recognition for the Perak State Government and the Ipoh City Council (MBI) for their capability in organising prestigious international events. The event not only highlighted management efficiency and warm hospitality, but also celebrated the uniqueness of local heritage and culture with the delegates.

In his speech, Nga Kor Ming expressed his appreciation to MBI and the Perak State Government for successfully organising an event that showcased the uniqueness of local gastronomy, cultural performances and the warm hospitality of the Malaysian people.

According to him, “Tonight’s event is not merely an official function, but an important platform to strengthen ties, understanding, trust and friendship between ASEAN Member States and the People’s Republic of China.

“The selection of Ipoh as the host venue also adds value and international publicity to the city as a world-class destination for tourism, heritage, gastronomy and conferences. The beauty of the limestone hills, tin mining history, heritage buildings and unique local culinary make Ipoh a city with its own distinctive identity.”

The delegates also had the opportunity to enjoy various traditional Perak dishes as well as the Ipoh white coffee, renowned as one of the city’s gastronomic icons. They were also encouraged to explore heritage areas, historical sites and attractive tourist destinations around Ipoh and Perak.

The hosting of ACMROCH 2026 also reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) to strengthening regional cooperation related to urban development, housing, construction, as well as sustainable and liveable local government agendas. The close collaboration between KPKT, the Perak State Government and MBI in making this programme a success demonstrates the capability of local authorities to play a strategic role in supporting diplomatic and international programmes.

This event also serves as a platform to promote Ipoh and the state of Perak, coinciding with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, thereby creating opportunities for the tourism, hospitality, food, cultural and local economic sectors to grow more rapidly. MBI’s involvement in ACMROCH 2026 demonstrates its capability to organise world-class events, thus driving the aspiration of Ipoh Bestari Sejahtera to transform Ipoh into a sustainable, tourist-friendly and liveable city.
