MORE THAN 1,800 MBI STAFF PARTICIPATE IN SPECIAL ASSEMBLY IN CONJUNCTION WITH IPOH CITY DAY 37TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
27 MAY 2025 - More than 1,800 MBI staff participated in the Special Assembly in conjunction with the Ipoh City Day 37th Anniversary Celebration together with Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah at the Ipoh Convention Centre (ICC) this morning.
Also present were Clr. Dato' Ahmad Hariri Kamarudin, Councillor representing MBI Chief WHIP Clr. Mr. Lee Tze Hoo, Council members, Senior Directors, Department Heads, officers and staff of MBI.
According to the Mayor, in the effort to continue MBI’s excellence in administering the Ipoh City administrative area, he still stresses on 'Back to Basic', which encompasses the main aspects of CLEANLINESS, GREENERY AND PROGRESS. If these three aspects are successfully implemented, he is confident that Ipoh will become a Smart and Prosperous City.
Among the preparations that need to be implemented are to strengthen the aspects of CLEANLINESS, GREENERY and PROGRESS that we can use as a guide to make Ipoh a Smart and Prosperous City. It should include the following:
- Interpreting CLEANLINESS not only in terms of waste cleanliness, drains and grass (SLR), which we have practised before, but also CLEANLINESS that includes environmental preservation, air pollution control, carbon emission reduction, and eco-friendly development that harmonious with the surrounding development;
- The interpretation of GREENERY is not only focused on providing open spaces and green areas, trees and landscapes, but can also be expanded to encompass the 4 pillars of a Low Carbon City, i.e., Green Buildings, Green Infrastructure, Green Environment and Green Transportation;
- iii. Next, expanding the interpretation of PROGRESS from physical development and high-rise buildings, to a Progress that encompasses a developed city with low carbon emissions, efficient urban transportation systems, energy-efficient urban planning, and our success in forming a Low Carbon Community.
According to him, in reaching its 37th year, Ipoh must be more prepared to face challenges and look to the needs of the future. As the local authority administering Ipoh, the Ipoh City Council must be dynamic and productive in managing urban issues and strengthening service delivery.
Hopefully, MBI staff will continue to work together as a team to uphold Ipoh City Council’s excellence as the leading Local Authority in Perak and even for the whole country. MBI staff must also realise that every success of MBI will have a significant and positive impact on the Perak State Government. Without the high commitment of the MBI staff, MBI would certainly not have achieved the level of excellence it has now as they are the driving force behind MBI’s success.
