OVER 2,000 FOOTBALL FANS ENLIVEN BIG-SCREEN SCREENING AT DATARAN BANDARAYA IPOH

IPOH, 16 JULY 2026 – More than 2,000 football fans thronged Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh early in the morning to watch the big-screen broadcast of the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final match between Argentina and England. 

The thrilling match saw Argentina defeat England by a narrow 2–1 margin, sparking thunderous cheers from the supporters present. 

The atmosphere at Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh became increasingly lively as city residents arrived with family and friends, bringing along mats and chairs to enjoy the match in a relaxed, safe and spirited environment. 

The programme was livened up by the presence of the Mayor of Ipoh, Zamakhshari Hanipah.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar’s Political Secretary Mohamad Hamidi Baharuddin, MBI Councillor cum Programme Chairman Clr. Muhammad Hamzah Hamdan, Clr. Lam Yew Tact, Clr. Ts. Alyph, Clr. Yusyafizal Mohd Yusop, MBI Councillors, as well as Heads of Departments of the Ipoh City Council. 

As a token of appreciation to the visitors, 15 lucky attendees received prizes via a lucky draw.

The prizes were presented by Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah, together with Mohamad Hamidi Baharuddin, Political Secretary to the Perak Menteri Besar. 

The organisation of the big-screen screening by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) not only gave football fans the chance to watch world-class action together, but also served as a platform to strengthen bonds, foster a spirit of togetherness and reinforce unity within the community. 

MBI extends its deepest appreciation and thanks to all Ipoh residents who attended and helped enliven the programme.
