REOPENING CEREMONY OF AEON MALL IPOH STATION 18
IPOH, 25 JUNE 2025 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) Member and MBI Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Subcommittee Chairman Toh Amar Pahlawan Dato' Ahmad Hariri Kamarudin, representing the Mayor of Ipoh, officiated the Reopening Ceremony of AEON Mall Ipoh Station 18 this morning.
Also present at the event were the AEON Co. (M) Bhd top management, including Corporate Communications Head Nik Mohd Fahmee Nik Hussian, Northern Region Senior Manager Kamarulzaman Jaafar, Northern Region Manager Badrol Sharif, Co-Chief Operating Officer (Retail) Audrey Lim, Chief Merchandising Officer Hidekazu Iwaoka, and MBI Public Relations Officer Mohd Syahrizal Azmi.
AEON is one of the leading retail brands in Malaysia, with a widespread presence nationwide. AEON Mall Ipoh Station 18, which began operations in March 2012, now features a brand-new look after undergoing a comprehensive renovation in conjunction with its 13th anniversary.
The renovation is expected to enhance the appeal of AEON Mall Ipoh Station 18, providing a fresher and more modern shopping experience for the local community. A total of 19 new brands have been introduced in this upgrading phase, including:
91 Pickleball – the first pickleball facility introduced in a shopping mall in the state of Perak;
iMuscle Fitness – a modern fitness centre for visitors who practice an active and healthy lifestyle.
The Ipoh City Council extends its highest appreciation to AEON for this upgrading effort, which has a positive impact on the local economic landscape. Ipoh residents are also looking forward to the reopening of the AEON food court, currently undergoing renovations, as well as the development on the AEON Kinta City expansion project, which is expected to commence soon.
As part of MBI's commitment to strengthening urban economic development, several strategic initiatives have been identified under the 18 Flagship Programmes of the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Agenda. Among them:
Flagship 15: Ipoh Donut Economy City 2027 – making Ipoh a pioneer in an economic concept that balances growth and environmental sustainability, as implemented in major cities like Amsterdam, Brussels and Berlin;
