IPOH, 15 JULY 2026 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) wishes to inform all city residents that the iconic 'IPOH' sign has been safely taken down to allow for inspection, repair and restoration works to be carried out.

This measure was taken to ensure that the structure and physical condition of the sign remain in good condition, safe and well-preserved as one of the city's proud landmarks.

The reinstallation of the 'IPOH' sign is expected to be carried out in stages from 4 to 6 August 2026, subject to weather conditions and the smooth progress of works on site.

MBI seeks the cooperation and patience of city residents throughout the duration of these works. Any inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted.
