IPOH CITY COUNCIL’S RESPONSE ACTION
With regard to the Sinar Harian Media Complaint, “Senior Citizen Staying at Bus Stop Taken for Treatment”, Ipoh City Council (MBI) has taken note of the Sinar Harian report dated 9 August 2026 concerning an elderly man who was reported to have been staying for more than a week at the bus stop along Jalan Raja Musa Aziz, Ipoh, as well as the cleanliness condition of the area.
Following the report, the Ipoh City Council conducted monitoring and coordinated action at the location.
Based on the situation on site, there were items and waste left around the bus stop and pedestrian walkway which required thorough cleaning work.
In this regard, MBI organised a Cleaning and Washing Operation of the Dirty Homeless Area at the viral location and hotspot on 11 August 2026 (Tuesday), starting at 9.00 am until completion, involving the bus stop area on Jalan Raja Musa Aziz; and Jalan CM Yusuf, along the pedestrian walkway beside 7-Eleven.
To carry out the operation, MBI provided an open lorry, cleaning personnel and a water jetter for waste collection and disposal, cleaning of the area and washing of the affected surfaces.
MBI also noted that the senior citizen had received attention from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) through the Kinta District Social Welfare Office (PKMD), with the assistance of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), before being taken for further examination and treatment.
Therefore, MBI’s action focused on aspects of cleanliness, comfort and safety of public space in the area concerned.
MBI expresses its appreciation to JKM, PDRM, relevant agencies and members of the public who showed concerned and provided information, enabling appropriate action to be taken.
MBI will continue to conduct monitoring at focal locations and hotspots to ensure the cleanliness and comfort of public facilities are always maintained.
The cooperation of the public in reporting any situation requiring action by the authorities is greatly appreciated for the wellbeing of all.
