MBI IGNITES SPIRIT OF PATRIOTISM THROUGH FLY THE JALUR GEMILANG CAMPAIGN 2026

IPOH, 21 AUGUST 2026 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) continues to ignite the spirit of patriotism among city residents through the implementation of the Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign 2026 in conjunction with this year’s National Month Celebration.

The initiative of installing the Jalur Gemilang around Ipoh city was carried out as an effort to instill and strengthen the spirit of love for the country, besides encouraging the public and business premises owners to join in flying the Jalur Gemilang throughout the National Month. 

Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah said MBI hopes this effort can serve as a catalyst for the community to express their love, pride and loyalty to the country by flying the Jalur Gemilang at their respective homes and premises. 

“At the MBI level, a total of 3,500 Jalur Gemilang have been installed. We hope this spirit can be expanded to the entire community so that they too will join in flying the Jalur Gemilang. 

“MBI has also distributed 5,000 letters to business premises to encourage them to fly the Jalur Gemilang. The involvement of all parties is believed to be able to further ignite the spirit of patriotism and love for the country,” he said. 

As part of the effort, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) Level Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign Launch Ceremony 2026 was held today in front of the MBI Meeting Hall. 

The ceremony was officiated by Zamakhshari Hanipah and was also attended by City Secretary A'zman Mohd Harun, Clr. Dato' Mazlan Abd Rahman, MBI Chief Whip Clr. Wong Kar Keat, Councillors and MBI Heads of Departments. 

The implementation of this campaign reflects the spirit of close cooperation between MBI, the community and various stakeholders in fostering love for the country, besides encouraging broader participation from the community and business sector in making the Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign a success. 

Among the event’s activities were the symbolic handover of the Jalur Gemilang to the MBI Marching Contingent, followed by a march-past by the MBI Marching Contingent, as well as the handover of the Jalur Gemilang to Councillors, Heads of Departments and official MBI vehicles. 

MBI hopes that this Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign will continue to ignite the spirit of love for the country, strengthen the sense of pride as Malaysians and encourage more Ipoh residents to join in enlivening the 2026 National Month Celebration by flying the Jalur Gemilang. 

This effort is also hoped to instill awareness that flying the Jalur Gemilang is not merely a symbolic act during the National Month Celebration, but rather a manifestation of gratitude, spirit of togetherness, patriotism and the people’s love for their homeland.
