CITY SECRETARY ATTENDS MINI MURAL ART COMPETITION PROGRAMME IN CONJUNCTION WITH MERDEKA AND MALAYSIA DAY 2026 CELEBRATIONS

IPOH, 22 AUGUST 2026 – City Secretary A’zman Mohd Harun, representing Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah, today attended the Online Mini Mural Art Competition Programme in conjunction with the Merdeka and Malaysia Day 2026 Celebrations at Lorong Seni @ Lorong Panglima, Ipoh.  

Also present to enliven the programme were Councillors and Heads of Departments of the Ipoh City Council (MBI).  

The programme, organised by MBI, was among the activities held in conjunction with the National Month celebration, aimed at igniting the spirit of patriotism and love for the country via the medium of art and creativity.  

The competition also served as a platform for the community, particularly art practitioners and enthusiasts, to showcase their talent and creativity through the production of mini murals featuring elements of unity, heritage, local identity and the unique gastronomy of Ipoh city.  

The programme commenced with an opening performance by MBI’s Gema Warisan Budaya (GWB) group, before continuing with the main programme activities. 

A’zman also conducted a walkabout around Lorong Seni and the National Art Gallery Perak Branch booth, as well as viewing the handicraft sales activities held as part of the programme. 

At the event, the City Secretary presented prizes to the competition winners as a token of appreciation for the creativity, effort and commitment of the participants in producing artworks that reflect the spirit of independence, unity and harmony of Malaysian society. 

The organising of such programmes not only is able to discover and showcase artistic talent within the community, but can also enliven the atmosphere at Lorong Seni @ Lorong Panglima as one of the unique arts, cultural and tourism attractions in Ipoh city. 

The programme was further enlivened by Gema Warisan Budaya (GWB) performances, handicraft sales and the participation and cooperation of the National Art Gallery Perak Branch. 

MBI will continue to support the organising of programmes centred on arts, culture and heritage as part of efforts to strengthen Ipoh’s identity and appeal as a creative, cultured, inclusive and sustainable city, in line with the aspirations of Ipoh Bestari Sejahtera.
