ORGANISATION OF “JOM LEPAK DATARAN IPOH” PROGRAMME ON 12 SEPTEMBER 2026 DID NOT RECEIVE MBI’S PERMISSION

Ipoh City Council (MBI) has taken note of a notice currently circulating on social media regarding the organisation of a programme inviting members of the public to gather or “hang out” at Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh on Saturday, 12 September 2026, starting at 8.00pm.

Based on the notice circulated, the programme also involved and invited the participation of motorcycle owners to gather at the specified location.

MBI wishes to emphasise that the Council did not receive any official application from the organisers for the purpose of holding the programme at Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh.

In this regard, MBI has never granted any permission, approval or support for the organisation of the said programme.

MBI takes a serious view of any use of Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh and public facilities under the Council’s supervision for the purpose of organising programmes or gatherings without first obtaining the appropriate permission.

Any activity involving public gatherings, particularly those involving participation of a large number of motorcycles, has the potential to cause traffic congestion, excessive noise, public order disturbances, accident risks, dangerous motorcycle actions or stunts, as well as disturbances to road users and nearby residents.

MBI stresses that any form of dangerous riding, illegal racing, excessive engine revving, the use of excessively loud exhausts, road obstruction, indiscriminate parking or any action that may endanger the public will not be tolerated.

The organisers and any individuals participating in the programme shall bear full responsibility for all risks, incidents, accidents, injuries, losses, property damage, traffic disruptions, public order disturbances or any untoward incidents arising related to the organisation of the programme, as it has never received approval or permission from the Council.

The Ipoh City Council shall not be responsible for any incidents or implications arising from programmes organised without MBI’s official approval.

MBI also emphasises that the use of the name, image, logo, buildings, premises of the Ipoh City Council or Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh in any poster, video, social media post or promotional material must not be construed or interpreted as evidence or an indication that the programme has received official approval, support or recognition from MBI.

The organisers and members of the public are hereby advised not to proceed with any programme, gathering or activity at the said location without first obtaining approval from the police, MBI and other relevant agencies.

MBI will also cooperate with the relevant enforcement agencies and will not hesitate to take firm action in accordance with the provisions of the laws and regulations in force to prevent and ensure there are no violations of the law, criminal acts, disturbances, trespassing, misuse of public facilities or any actions that may jeopardise public safety and order.

Members of the public, including members of motorcycle groups and communities, are advised not to attend or participate in the programme on the assumption that it is an official programme or that it has supposedly received MBI approval based solely on notices circulating on social media.

MBI calls on all parties, especially the organisers, to act responsibly, respect the law by refraining from spreading false information and ensure that public safety and order always remain a priority.
