BUDGET DIALOGUE SESSION WITH TOP MANAGEMENT AND COUNCILLORS ON IPOH CITY COUNCIL’S PROPOSED BUDGET 2027

IPOH, 15 JULY 2026 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) today held a Budget Dialogue Session with the Top Management and Councillors to discuss the Proposed MBI Budget for 2027 at Dewan Azlan Shah, Level 10, MBI Building.

The session was chaired by City Secretary A'zman Mohd Harun, representing the Mayor of Ipoh, Zamakhshari Hanipah.

A briefing on the Proposed MBI Budget for 2027 was delivered by MBI Treasury Director Mohd Syazlan Mohd Isa Suffian.

Also present were MBI Councillors, heads of departments and units, and relevant officers.

In his welcoming speech, A'zman expressed his appreciation to all the Councillors for their commitment, views and continuous cooperation in ensuring that every MBI plan and decision meets the needs of the people, besides supporting the city’s sustainable development.

According to him, the dialogue session serves as an important platform for obtaining the views, suggestions and feedback from Councillors on the proposed budget before it is finalised.

"Budget preparation is not just a process of allocating financial resources, but rather a strategic instrument to ensure that every ringgit spent delivers maximum impact on community wellbeing, quality service delivery and the development of a more progressive city," he said.

He stated that in facing global economic uncertainties, rising operating costs and increasingly high public expectations, the preparation of the MBI 2027 Budget must be carried out prudently, realistically and results-oriented

In this regard, every proposed expenditure must take into account organisational priorities, the Council's financial capacity, and the best value and benefits that can be delivered to the community.

He also stressed that close cooperation between Councillors and management is very important to ensure that the drafted budget is truly based on current needs, service performance, revenue projections, expenditure commitments and the city's development planning.

It is hoped that the formulated MBI Budget for 2027 will not only to meet the community’s aspirations but also be implemented transparently, prudently and with a high impact on the city’s development and the wellbeing of all Ipoh residents.

A'zman also hoped that the dialogue session would be conducted in an open, constructive and professional atmosphere, with every view and idea from the Councillors serving as vital input to strengthen the proposed MBI Budget for 2027.

The proposed MBI Budget for 2027 was subsequently tabled by the MBI Treasury Director for joint review, discussion and consideration.

The organising of this dialogue session reflects MBI's commitment to ensuring that financial management is carried out efficiently, transparently and responsibly, in line with efforts to enhance service delivery quality, strengthen town development, and create wellbeing and prosperity for all residents of Ipoh City.
