ROCK SELAMANYA ROCKS IPOH TOWN HALL, REVIVES ROCK MUSIC NOSTALGIA
IPOH, 26 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) continues to enliven the city's arts, cultural and entertainment landscape by organising Rock Selamanya at the Ipoh Town Hall tonight.
The programme was attended by MBI Chief Whip Dato’ Mazlan Abd Rahman, City Secretary A’zman Mohd Harun, Councillors and MBI Heads of Departments.
The programme, from 8.30pm to 11.00pm, featured performances by the MBI Gema Warisan Budaya (GWB) Group, Abu & Frenz, Teja and Riyard, bringing the atmosphere to life with a series of energetic and nostalgic rock music performances.
The organising of Rock Selamanya provided an opportunity for the public, particularly rock music fans, to enjoy live performances in a relaxed, lively and entertaining atmosphere. Open to the public free of charge, the programme also served as a platform for bringing together people of different ages and backgrounds through their interest and love for art and music.
Beyond providing quality entertainment for city residents, the programme reflects MBI's ongoing commitment to increasing arts, cultural and entertainment activities that can enliven the city atmosphere and reinforce Ipoh's appeal as a dynamic and creative tourism destination with its own distinctive identity.
The choice of Ipoh Town Hall, which is one of the city’s iconic and historic buildings, as the venue for the event also added value to the programme by combining elements of heritage, art and music in a single event that the community can enjoy together.
The organising of such a programme also aligns with efforts to strengthen Ipoh's position as a UNESCO Creative City of Music, while providing space and a platform for artistes and musicians to continue creating, showcasing their talents and bringing music closer to society.
At the same time, programmes like Rock Selamanya have the potential to contribute to the vibrancy of nighttime activities in the city centre, increase public footfall and generate positive spillover effects for the local tourism, business and economic sectors.
MBI hopes that the organising of Rock Selamanya will continue to serve as one of the platforms for strengthening the spirit of togetherness among the community, besides enlivening the arts, cultural and entertainment ecosystem in Ipoh city.
