SHOOTING SKILLS TEST IN CONJUNCTION WITH IPOH CITY 37TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

IPOH, 11 JUNE 2025 – In conjunction with the Ipoh City 37th Anniversary Celebration, Ipoh City Council (MBI) organised a Shooting Skills Test at the General Operations Force (GOF) Rifle Range in Ulu Kinta this morning.

The programme was attended by Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah, Ulu Kinta GOF Northern Brigade Commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Shahrum Hashim, and was participated by 64 people comprising MBI Chief WHIP Dato' Mazlan Abd. Rahim, MBI Councillors, City Secretary, Senior Directors, Department Heads and officers of MBI.

The organisation of this programme aimed to enhance the capability and skills in handling small firearms among MBI personnel, particularly in terms of safety, accuracy and effectiveness. It also emphasised on building self-confidence when shooting in various positions and obstacles, while instilling a high sense of responsibility and discipline in the use of firearms.

At the same time, the programme served as a platform to strengthen camaraderie and foster a spirit of cooperation among the management and officers of MBI.

The programme began with a safety briefing at 9.00 am, followed by the grouping of participants. Throughout the training session, all safety procedures were strictly adhered to under the supervision and instruction of ASP Mohd Faisal Abdul Ghani from the GOF.

The shooting skills test was divided into two main categories, i.e., Centre Fire and Falling Plate. Among the firearms used in the training were the Glock 19 pistol, CZ SP-01 Shadow and M14 rifle, which are the standard weapons used in professional training.

By the end of the programme, participants with the highest scores received souvenirs and medals as a token of appreciation for their outstanding performance.

The organisation of such activities demonstrates MBI's ongoing commitment to empowering personal excellence, while also strengthening the culture of teamwork, professionalism and integrity among its workforce.
