WORKING VISIT TO THE FIELD STRONG BILATERAL RELATIONS
9 January 2025 - In order to further strengthen bilateral relations, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) has held a working visit to the Indonesian city of Medan.
The visit led by Y.Bhg, Dato 'Rumaizi Bin Baharin@Md Daud, Datuk Bandar Ipoh also aims to sow ukwah ties on top of the friendship city status that has been established for a long time.
This visit is also very significant for the year 2025 because Malaysia will be the Chairman of ASEAN in 2025 and MBI will be the chairman of one of the Committees under the IMT GT.
The three-day program, starting on January 8, has been arranged with a variety of interesting activities including a meeting with Mr. Bobby Nasution, the Mayor of Medan, a visit to Medan tourism centers such as Istana Maimun, Mashun Raya Mosque and Tanjong A Fie in Medan City.
For information, the friendship city relationship between the city of Ipoh and the city of Medan has been established since August 2009.
This link was made based on equality and mutual interest in addition to promoting understanding and friendship between the people of Malaysia and Indonesia as well as expanding opportunities in various fields, especially the tourism, health and digital sectors.
The first of the programs implemented for the continuation of this friendship city was done through the Ipoh-Medan Friendship City Student Exchange Program, Indonesia which has been implemented since 2015.
It is hoped that this bilateral relationship can be maintained and maintained for the development of both cities.
