IPOH, 17 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) underwent an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) enforcement audit session at the MBI Headquarters Building today.
This comprehensive audit session was conducted by a team of officers from the Perak Occupational Safety and Health Department (JKKP) and coordinated by MBI Occupational Safety and Health Unit (UKKP), to monitor and assess the quality and circulation of air within the Council's office workspaces.
The audit aimed to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health standards, besides detecting and controlling any physical, chemical, or biological air parameters that could affect the health of MBI staff.
In general, good indoor air quality management at MBI offices is very important to ensure comfort, reduce the risk of health problems such as Sick Building Syndrome and increase staff productivity in delivering the best services.
The enforcement session began with a briefing by JKKP Perak officers, followed by presentations from representatives of MBI's internal departments, i.e., the Management Services Department, Public Works Department, and Public Health and Town Services Department, covering aspects of space cleaning, physical parameters, complaint procedures and air-conditioning system maintenance.
The audit team then proceeded to conduct physical inspections and comprehensive testing around the office areas, AHU rooms, cooling towers and chemical storage areas to ensure full compliance with IAQ standards.
MBI always welcomes periodic enforcement and audit sessions such as this to ensure a conducive working environment for all staff and visitors conducting business at the Council's premises.
