SERI MANJUNG, 4 AUGUST 2026 – HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah officiated the Opening Ceremony of Manjung Municipal Council’s Dewan Merdeka today.

Also gracing the occasion was HRH Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.  

The ceremony, held at Dewan Merdeka, Manjung Municipal Council, Seri Manjung, was also attended by HH Raja Di Hilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.

Also present were the Perak Menteri Besar, Higher Education Minister Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Perak State Government leadership, heads of departments and invited guests.  

The event was also attended by Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah, as a gesture of support and to strengthen close cooperative ties among local authorities in Perak.  

The ceremony began with the singing of the Perak State Anthem, followed by the recitation of holy verses of the al-Quran, doa and speech by the Perak Menteri Besar.  

The opening of Dewan Merdeka marks another important milestone in the development of public facilities in Manjung district, particularly in providing a more comfortable, modern and representative space for hosting official functions, community programmes, cultural activities and various large-scale events.  

This facility is also expected to strengthen the role of the Manjung Municipal Council in improving the quality of service delivery to the community, besides supporting local social and economic development as well as the tourism sector.  

The opening of Dewan Merdeka reflects the continued commitment of the Perak State Government and Manjung Municipal Council to providing quality infrastructure for the wellbeing of the people and the overall progress of Manjung district.
